Age Eligibility
HMF Age Requirement for Marathons and Half Marathons:
On the recommendation of our medical support team, the Hartford Marathon Foundation has established the following policies:
- Runners must be at least 16 years of age on race day to enter the Marathon
- Runners must be 12 years of age on race day to enter the Half Marathon

HMF Age Requirement for Duathlons & Triathlons:
Participants must be 16 to participate in the swim portion of the event, at least 14 years of age to participate in the bike portion and at least 12 years of age to do the run portion as a team member.
The Hartford Marathon Foundation offers USAT sanctioned duathlons and triathlons and follows the USAT’s rules for “age up” which calculates an athlete's age based on December 31 in the year he/she was born.
