Freedom Run 5K

Produced in partnership with HYPE and MetroHartford Alliance, the measured 5K course will run on well maintained park trails, starting and finishing in beautiful Riverside Park. This event is run to honor the men and women who serve our country.

Race Beneficiary:

Give2TheTroops® is a 501 (c) 3, tax-exempt, non-profit organization that sends care packages and letters to our deployed and wounded military troops in combat and disaster relief zones. They're non-political and support all branches of the service. Founded in December of 2002, by a U.S. Marine wife, the organization has grown into a nationwide nonprofit. Since 2002, G2TT has sent more than 180,000 large boxes (averaging 70 lbs. each) to approximately one million American military troops deployed in combat zones and disaster relief zones.

Race Day Collections: Gift Cards such as iTunes and Amazon.com and any card they can send home to loved ones as holiday or birthday or anniversary gifts. They have nothing they can buy overseas and send home.

The last Christmas/Hanukkah boxes will be sent the following week to the troops so any holiday decorations, candy, suitable nick-knacks, felt stockings, non-breakable ornaments, etc. would be great. No home baked food, glass or aerosol products.
