Talented runners from outside the New England/New York region

may request an Elite entry if you have achieved the following finishing times in the marathon or half marathon in races that have occurred between October 2011 and July 2013.

            Marathon       Half Marathon

Men             2:25                 1:10

Women        2:55                 1:25

To apply for elite athlete status, athletes must submit an HMF entry form and waiver, completed elite questionnaire and a resume/ biography to the ING Hartford Marathon Elite Athlete Coordinator identifying race standings for 2 years (24 months) prior to the ING Hartford Marathon's race date.

Runner's documentation must be received by August 1, 2013 to be considered for elite athlete status and receive elite athlete benefits. 

Elite Athletes will be notified in mid-August if they have been accepted into the ING Hartford Marathon or Half Marathon.  Elite athletes in the marathon or half marathon are provided with complimentary entry.  No travel or accommodations are provided.

ELITE RULES 

Federal Income Tax Withholding on Prize Money
  • To avoid a 30% tax on your prize money, US and Resident Foreign Athletes must possess a Social Security # and submit a copy of his/her Social Security Card.
  • Non-Resident Athletes are subject to a 30% Federal Income Tax withholding

The ING Hartford Marathon also has a Seeded Entrant option for qualified runners.
