The ING Run for Something Better Program is designed to encourage a healthy, active lifestyle in the fight against childhood obesity for elementary and middle school students. This program encourages students to train together to complete a half marathon, covering 13.1 miles in 6 weeks. In early October, 2013 (date TBD) during the ING "Run For Something Better Day", the students who complete 12 miles or 25.1 through their school program will run their last 1.1 "Final Mile", over a finish line in Rentschler field, receive a Finisher's Medal and celebrate at the World of Fitness Expo.

Dear Fellow Athlete,
It's time to help give kids a running start to better health — and better lives. As an athlete, you know the importance of physical fitness. And you understand the journey toward a healthier, longer life begins with a single step. Now, there's a unique opportunity for you to pass on those values, and help introduce a new generation to an active lifestyle.
Join in the race against childhood obesity by donating $10 or more, and you'll receive a bright pair of orange shoelaces as a token of our appreciation and a symbol of your support for youth running and fitness. Please wear them proudly to show you are “tied” to supporting kids’ fitness! And when you wear them, you help spread awareness of a serious problem – childhood obesity– and one nonprofit organization’s solution, making fitness opportunities available and exciting.
Your contribution will help ING Run For Something Better continue to introduce children right here in Connecticut to free, school-based running and fitness programs. Please show your support today.
There are three ways to get your orange laces:
- Donate $10 or more when you register for your event, and receive your signature orange laces as a token of our appreciation. Only one pair of orange laces will be received per donation, regardless of donation amount.
- Donate $10 or more for your orange laces at any of the pre-Marathon packet pickup locations.
- Not registering for an event? Click here to make a donation today.
Good luck in the race!
