The triathlon features a 1.5K swim in a crystal clear lake, stunning mountain vistas along the 40K bike course, and scenic, rural back roads during the 10K run. Race Beneficiary:Mount Southington Ski Area’s RESQ Squad consists of children as young as 7 or 8 (each sponsored by a member of our Ski Patrol staff) that can ride the lift and ski independently and serve as an additional set of eyes on the slopes. Often times they are the first to be present on the scene of an accident and report it to Ski Patrol via walkie talkies as well as securing the area by making sure that other skiers stay away. The RESQ Squad assists the Ski Patrol by carrying backpacks and other equipment down the mountain when needed. They may be asked to get ice or snow into baggies, or they may simply be asked for a band aide or a tissue. We hope that this experience creates the desire to carry on the future of the volunteer Ski Patrol and the willingness to care for people in need wherever their lives take them. The Ski Patrol works on a volunteer basis and their budget is very limited. Therefore any contributions that come their way to help with supplies, etc. will be greatly appreciated.
