CAMP RISING SUN

Camp Rising Sun is a camp for children who have been diagnosed with or are currently undergoing treatment for cancer. Children ages 5 - 17 attend camp free of charge. It is a non-profit organization run by volunteers and funded by donations both private and public. Camp is staffed by volunteer counselors who give a week of their time, love and energy. There is a pediatric oncologist and four nurses on campus 24-hours a day to tend to medical needs. Camp Rising Sun started with 8 children in its first year and has grown to over 120 campers; 2014 will mark Camp Rising Sun's 31st year. Camp Rising Sun is a place where kids with cancer have fun!

Donate Life Connecticut is a volunteer-driven, statewide non-profit that educates the public about the lifesaving benefits of organ and tissue donation! FIDELCO GUIDE DOG FOUNDATION

The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation is dedicated to promoting increased independence to men and women who are blind by providing them with the highest quality German Shepherd Guide Dogs. Each Fidelco Guide Dog takes two years, 15,000 hands-on hours and $45,000 to produce. They are given to clients at no cost. Fidelco relies solely on the generosity and financial support of individuals, foundations, corporations and civic organizations to help Share the Vision®.

JANE DOE NO MORE

logo_End_the_SilenceFounded in 2007, Jane Doe No More is a national nonprofit working to improve the way society responds to victims of sexual assault through education, awareness, advocacy, and support. They offer programs and classes specifically designed for sexual assault survivors, police officers and other first responders, and the community at large. They raise awareness about the crimes of rape and sexual assault through a full schedule of speaking engagements, appearances in media, including television and radio, our social media channels, and through our website. Jane Doe No More also provides support for victims and their families by offering information, resources, and referrals from a trained intervention counselor, and through their program for sexual assault survivors.

New Horizons provides options for improving the quality of life for adults with physical disabilities and those recovering from injury. They strive to be the area’s center of excellence for barrier free quality housing, inpatient nursing home care, and outpatient rehabilitative programs and services. New Horizons, Inc. is comprised of New Horizons Village, a community of accessible apartments for physically disabled adults and Cherry Brook Health Care Center, a skilled nursing facility providing inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative care and services.

SUSAN G. KOMEN CONNECTICUT

Komen Connecticut's primary focus is the local community – on educating the women and men in our state on the importance of early detection, funding free screening services and providing support to those who are diagnosed with breast cancer. Seventy-five percent of the funds raised remain in Connecticut and are invested in local breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs across the state. The remaining twenty-five percent is invested in research to find the causes and cures for breast cancer.

TEAM IN TRAINING

Since Team In Training's (TNT) beginning in 1988, more than 625,000 participants have helped the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) invest in almost $1 billion for therapies that are changing lives today. When you are a part of TNT you not only will attain your personal physical best but you will be helping change patients’ lives by raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The LLS exists to find cures and ensure access to treatments for blood cancer patients. Participants are trained in full or half marathons, Iron Man competitions, triathlons, cycle events, and even hikes! Their certified coaches will make sure you are ready to cross the finish line with work-outs, nutrition, hydration, and injury prevention. LLS staff members are with you your entire journey to make fundraising easy and obtainable. A cure to blood cancer starts with you, some day is today!

TEAM MAD

Team MAD was formed by an ad hoc group of dedicated people in 2006 and is a 501(c)(3)! As a team, they train runners and non-runners to be able to complete a half marathon (13.1 miles) or a full marathon (26.2 miles) while raising money for their annually designated charity. Team MAD's goal is to support local charities in reaching their full potential while providing a safe and memorable experience for their runners.

NEWTOWN MEMORIAL FUND

The Newtown Memorial Fund (NMF) is an all-volunteer non-profit created on the evening of December 14, 2012. It’s mission is to fund the future of Newtown: To Restore—Provide for the immediate needs of the families of the 26 victims, those who were wounded but survived, the 12 children who were first-hand witnesses, and the others affected. To Remember—Contribute toward a lasting, meaningful, physical memorial honoring the lives lost on December 14, 2012, and establish academic scholarships for future generations of Newtown students. To Renew—By restoring and remembering, we will move our community ahead, together, starting today and forevermore.

No one ever plans on being homeless with nowhere else to go, yet, nearly 1,500 men, women and children find themselves on South Park Inn's doorstep each year. Everyone deserves a place to call home! South Park Inn provides a continuum of services from street outreach and emergency shelter to transitional and permanent housing. They specialize in working with homeless Veterans.
