Run for a Cause

TNT RunnerYour Steps Can Help Others!

The NU Hartford Marathon is proud of the many generous athletes who run for a cause and use one of the Marathon events (marathon, half marathon, team relay or 5K) as a fundraiser. Please consider supporting one of our official charities or student running programs and encourage your family and friends to share your dedication to a cause greater than your own personal record.

The NU Hartford Marathon has partnered with many local and national charities to make it easy for you to “Join The Team” so that you and your family and friends can help others as you train and run the race of your choice.

Run or walk for charity and see how your steps can help someone else reach their goal!

NU Hartford Marathon Charity Programs

The Official NU Hartford Marathon Charity Partnership Program

The NU Hartford Marathon "Official Charity" program is a select group of local and national charities who are dedicated to their missions and have partnered with the NU Hartford Marathon to support our event as they raise funds for their organizations. When you “Join The Team” for one or more of the charities, you can either make a one-time donation or choose to raise money for your charity of choice by creating a team of your own.

HMF FitKids In School Program

The HMF FitKids In School Program is designed to encourage a healthy, active lifestyle in the fight against childhood obesity for elementary and middle school students. Students train together to complete a half marathon, covering 13.1 miles in 6 weeks. During the "Final Mile Day", the students run their last 1.1 "Final Mile" and receive a finisher's medal. Donations to this program support Connecticut youth running programs.

Jeff’s Running Partners

Jeff's Running Partners pairs a group of students from local elementary and middle schools with their coach or other adult(s) to run the marathon course as a relay team. The adults complete the full marathon as a relay team (each running a portion of the route) or as individuals running the full 26.2 miles. Each student runs one or more miles alongside their coach or other adult. The schools use the event as a fundraiser to support a charity of the team's choice.
