Course Description heading

The old Wethersfield 5k and 10K are USAT&F certified courses (#CT10037JHP and #CT10040JHP respectively) along the historic streets of old Wethersfield.

The 10K is a double-loop course and the 5K is a single loop one. Both races follow along most of the same roadways. The courses are flat and fast with one sharp turn. The races end along a non paved trail in the scenic Wethersfield cove.

The Old Wethersfield 10K is the State Championship race of the USATF Connecticut Grand Prix Series.

Course Limits

Course limit is 1 hour and 25 minutes for the Old Wethersfield 10K.

As a courtesy to the communities impacted by the race and the volunteers who serve, we have established a Course Time Limit of 1 hour and 25 minutes for the 10K.

To finish within this time limit you must maintain a pace of approximately 13:30 minutes per mile. Official finishing times are recorded through 1 hour and 25 minutes for the 10K.

Along the race course, roads will reopen to traffic and water/aid stations will close down as the race moves by on a 13:30 minute per mile pace.

We will have a strict cut off at mile 2.4. Any 10K runner that does not reach this before 34 minutes will be directed to finish the 5K course.

All runners running beyond Course Time Limits are doing so at their own risk. If you think your pace will be slower than a 13:30 minute mile pace, please be prepared and carry your own fluids and energy gel with you throughout the race.

Race staff will begin breaking down the finish line after course limits. Runners who come in after limits that are not able to collect a finisher medal on site, please contact the race office within 48 hours of the event. You may also request to receive a replacement race bib at that time.
