Brodie Park offers athletes its beautiful waters and venue in Litchfield Hills. Athletes will enjoy the "soul" of this race venue.

The site for this event is Brodie Park on West Hill Lake in New Hartford, CT. It is an olympic distance race: 1 mile swim, 23.8 mile bike, 6.2 mile run.
The SWIM is a surveyed mile in spring fed, pristine, potable West Hill Lake.
The BIKE is diverse, and has gradual climbs, steep climbs, fifty mph downhills and demands your attention.
The RUN is rural around a very pretty neighborhood on pavement.

AGE REQUIREMENT: You must be 16 to participate in the swim or bike portions of the event. If you are younger than 16, you may do the run portion as a team member.
Relay Teams: The Litchfield Hills Triathlon can be entered as a relay team of 2-3 members; each completing 1 or 2 of the event legs. Team members exchange the timing chip inside the transition area. A great way to share the competition with family or friends!!
"1-Day-Only" USA Triathlon Membership: $10 per person.
The Litchfield Hills Triathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. In order to participate participants are required to be a member. Applications for full-fledged USA Triathlon memberships (at a cost of $39.) will be available at race time or can be obtained by calling USA Triathlon at (719) 597-9090. (Recommended for athletes participatiing in more than 3 triathlon/duathlon events per year.)

Relay Teams: Teams must provide a completed and signed application for each member, mailed together with payment in the same envelope. Photocopies of the entry form are acceptable. Team fee includes 1-Day-Only USA Triathlon Membership (required for insurance purposes).
DEADLINE FOR LITCHFIELD HILLS OLYMPIC TRIATHLON - Print, complete and mail or fax according to instructions on the form. Payment may be made by credit card or check (made payable to HMF). - Paper copies must by postmarked or faxed by - Saturday, July 12, 2008.

USA Triathlon Rules The race will be officiated by USA Triathlon. All rules will be enforced, especially, bar ends must be plugged. Any bike without bar ends plugged will not be allowed to race. Be prepared. Plugs are easy to get at your bike shop.

Swim Course:
The Swim is a surveyed mile in West Hill Lake, the clearest, cleanest lake in the state of CT. It has been tested and has been found potable - or good enough to drink. At the beach at Brodie Park, waves, four minutes apart will leave at the gun. The Swim is a right hand, triangular course. The corners are to taken on the right shoulder back to the beach where there is a 1/4 mile uphill run to the Transition. There are 10 guards on lifeboards, and two motorized boats for your safety. International distance race: 1mile Swim. |

Bike Course: Transition: right onto West Hill Rd 2 miles. Right onto Route 183 2.5miles. Right onto Route 44 10 miles. Right onto Route 179 - 300 yards. Right onto Route 202 four miles Right onto Carpenter Rd go 0.5 miles. Bear left onto Dings Rd 0.5 miles. Cross Route 219 and continue on Dings Rd 0.5 miles. Right onto Maple Hollow Rd 1 mile. Left on Bruning Rd two miles mostly uphill. Left onto West Hill Rd 0.8 miles. Right into Bike Finish and Transition at Brodie Park. International distance race: 23.8.mile Bike. |
Run Course: From Transition, through park and left onto Niles Road. Niles becomes West West Hill Road at town line. Straight onto Bsuallak Road. Right onto East West Left onto Arrowhead Drive. Left onto Troutwood Drive. Right onto Arrowhead Drive. Right onto Burwell Road. Left onto Niles Road. Right into Brodie park, straight to finish shute. International distance race: 6.2mile Run.

Winning Time chip is worn on Velcro strap on the ankle and will be distributed at packet pick-up. Chip must be returned at the finish line. $30 fee for unreturned chip.
Do you own a USA Triathlon logo branded ChampionChip? This chip can only be used at events that are being timed using the ChampionChip system. The Litchfield Hills Triathlon event is being timed by the Winning Time chip timing system and this system cannot read your personal chip. As a result, athletes can only use the chip provided by the promoters. We apologize for the inconvenience. |
