5K Run - 28K Bike - 5K Run
through Glastonbury's beautiful orchard country.
The Shamrock Duathlon is Connecticut's premier racing event.
Many of the region's top duathletes choose this event as a springboard
for the national championships.
Both 5K runs follow the same course, a double loop in the neighborhood of the Irish American Club. The bike is a 28K loop of rolling hills through scenic farmlands and historic Glastonbury. Great food and Irish beer at the finish!

AGE REQUIREMENT: You must be 16 to participate in the swim or bike portions of the event. If you are younger than 16, you may do the run portion as a team member.

RELAY TEAMS: The Shamrock Duathlon can be entered as a relay team of 2 or 3 members; each completing 1-2 of the event legs. Team members exchange the timing chip inside the transition area.
A great way to share the competition with family or friends!!

"1-Day-Only" USA Triathlon Membership: $10.00 per person.
The Shamrock Duathlon is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. In order to participate participants are required to be a member. Applications for full-fledged USA Triathlon memberships (at a cost of $39.) will be available at race time or can be obtained by calling USA Triathlon at (719) 597-9090. (Recommended for athletes participating in more than 3 triathlon/duathlon events per year.)

RELAY TEAMS: Teams must provide a completed and signed application for each member, mailed together with payment in the same envelope. Photocopies of the entry form are acceptable. Team fee includes 1-Day-Only USA Triathlon Membership (required for insurance purposes).
DEADLINE FOR SHAMROCK: Print, complete and mail or fax according to instructions on the form. Payment may be made by credit card or check (made payable to HMF). - Paper copies must by postmarked or faxed by - Saturday, May 10, 2008.

Race Start
- Race start is 7:30 a.m. Rain or shine.
- The start, finish and transition area is located at the Irish American Club on Commerce Street, Glastonbury, CT.
- Transition opens at 6:30 a.m. for athlete setup

USA Triathlon Rules The race will be officiated by USA Triathlon. All rules will be enforced, especially, bar ends must be plugged. Any bike without bar ends plugged will not be allowed to race. Be prepared. Plugs are easy to get at your bike shop.

Post Race
- Refreshments and awards following the race on the grounds of the Irish American Club. Menu includes black bean burritos, 100% organic fresh fruit, Dunkin Donuts bagels and muffins, seasonal specialties from Whole Foods Natural Market and, of course, ice cold beer from the Irish American Home Socieity.

- Massage therapists from the American Massage Therapy Association and the CT Sports Massage Team have donated their time to support this event. Make sure you stick around for your FREE massage after the race!

Directions:
From Interstate-84: Follow I-84 to Route 2 East. Follow Route 2 East to exit 8 (Route 94). Left off exit onto Hebron Ave. Right at second light onto Oak Street. First left is Commerce Street; Irish Club is on right (look for the flag!)
From Interstate-91: I-91 to exit 25 (Route 3 North/Putnam Bridge). Follow Route 3 to Route 2 East. Take exit 8 (Route 94). Left off exit onto Hebron Ave. Right at second light onto Oak Street. First left is Commerce Street. Proceed to Irish-American Home Society Inc., 132 Commerce Street, Glastonbury, CT.
From southeastern CT and Rhode Island: I-95 to Route 2 West. Take exit 8 (Oak Street, Glastonbury). Take left off exit, then first left onto Commerce Street. Proceed to Irish-American Home Society Inc., 132 Commerce Street, Glastonbury, CT.
Parking: Irish American Club, Commerce St. Glastonbury, CT; Other business parking lots on Commerce Street. We ask all participants to park in the new grass field behind the Irish American Home. PLEASE - Do not park in the club's parking lot. Plenty of parking in the field. |

Winning Time chip is worn on Velcro strap on the ankle and will be distributed at packet pick-up. Chip must be returned at the finish line. $30 fee for unreturned chip. |
Do you own a USA Triathlon logo branded ChampionChip? This chip can only be used at events that are being timed using the ChampionChip system. The Shamrock Duathlon event is being timed by the Winning Time chip timing system and this system cannot read your personal chip. As a result, athletes can only use the chip provided by the promoters. We apologize for the inconvenience. |
