Since its inception in 1994, The Hartford Marathon Foundation, Inc. has conducted health and fitness events for the fulfillment of participants, the enjoyment of spectators and opportunities that offer value to the community. The Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) strives to stimulate awareness, education and participation among the general public about running and fitness, primarily through the production of the Greater Hartford Marathon and its 18 Signature Events. Over 60,000 people participate (running, volunteering or supporting) in HMF events annually and over half a million since inception.
In 2004, the HMF flagship event, the ING Greater Hartford Marathon, was named Race of the Year by New England Runner Magazine and Top 10 Marathons in North America by Marathon & Beyond Magazine.
The HMF also provides training programs for all ages and abilities to encourage participation and healthy lifestyles. Our youth training programs provide running and lifelong fitness habits to thousands of youth throughout the Greater Hartford area.
