The Hartford Marathon Foundation, Inc. is a 501c(3) , not for profit organization, founded in 1994 and located in Glastonbury, Connecticut, USA.
Its mission is to create and manage fitness events to benefit the Greater Hartford community. |
Helping People Get Fit
Since 1998, over 5,000 adults and children have participated in Hartford Marathon Foundation Training programs designed to help people begin or build a running or walking program.
Greening
The Hartford Marathon Foundation will take all possible measures to reduce its carbon footprint and will promote, educate and encourage all participants, volunteers and spectators to do the same. With the goal of becoming the most sustainable athletic event in the country, the ING Hartford Marathon has named former title sponsor United Technologies as their Presenting Green Sponsor. The water bubbler designed and built by UTC engineers and powered by Vital Water saved 10,000 plastic bottles from the local landfill in 2007

- 100% organic food served at race events
- recycling at all events
- environmentally friendly purchasing policy
- reusable race bags
- 5-year greening plan in development
- One of the Council for Responsible Sport's "seedling" certification events for athletic events.
