ING Run for Something Better

ING-RFSB-Run for Good Purchase-Orange Laces

Dear Fellow Athlete,

It's time to help give kids a running start to better health — and better lives.  As an athlete, you know the importance of physical fitness.  And you understand the journey toward a healthier, longer life begins with a single step.

Now, there's a unique opportunity for you to pass on those values, and help introduce a new generation to an active lifestyle.

Join in the race against childhood obesity by donating $10 or more, and you'll receive a bright pair of orange shoelaces as a token of our appreciation and a symbol of your support for youth running and fitness.  Plus with your contribution, you'll be helping ING to provide youth running and school-based fitness education programs for kids right here in Connecticut.  Please, won't you help today?

Go ahead.  Make a fashion statement and make a difference in kids' lives.  Get your orange laces today and show the world your support for youth running and fitness!

Please don't delay... make a difference today.  It's so easy!

Three ways to get your laces:

  • Just make your donation of $10 when you register for your event, and receive your orange laces as a token of our appreciation.  Only one pair of laces per donation, no matter how much the donation is. And if you donate by September 18th, you'll receive them in time to wear them at the ING Hartford Marathon or your next race.
  • Purchase laces at any of the pre-Marathon packet pickup locations.
  • Not registering for an event?
Click on the Get Your Laces
box (top of page) to place your orders.

Good luck in the race!

NATIONAL OVERVIEW - DID YOU KNOW? ....

  • Childhood obesity is one of the most significant health concerns facing us today. ING developed the Run for Something Better in 2003 to introduce kids to the benefits of running, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • The ING Run for Something Better helps to fund free, community and school-based running programs. These programs encourage children to get fit while teaching them important life skills, such as setting goals and working to achieve them.
  • Since the program was first launched, ING has introduced thousands of children across the country to fitness as a way of life. Programs currently exist in New York City, Miami, Atlanta, San Francisco, Denver and Minot. New programs are being established in Hartford and Philadelphia. There is also a grant program that reaches school running programs outside of the race markets.
  • The ING Run for Something Better program has provided more than $1,000,000 to community organizations that support running and fitness initiatives -- and has committed over $2,000,000 through 2010.
  • Children participating in ING Run for Something Better programs have reached a milestone of running more than one million miles.
