Every step you run or walk will get you closer to the Marathon, Half Marathon or 5K finish line and closer to your goal, so every step counts. But do you realize how your steps can help someone else reach their goal?

DEDICATED RUNNERS
The ING Greater Hartford Marathon is proud of the many generous runners, who Runs For A Cause, and use one of the Marathon events (Marathon, Half Marathon, race walk, team relay or 5K) as a fundraiser. Consider joining their ranks this year.
Nearly everyone has been touched by an illness or personal difficulty. You probably know someone whose goal is to extend their life a little longer as science searches for a cure for their disease. Or, maybe their goal is to be a participant in a 5K despite their disability or maybe their goal is to have a safe shelter for their children, free from physical and emotional abuse.
As a runner, you now have an opportunity to make each step towards the finish line count and give back to the not-for-profit organizations who make it their business to help others.
YOUR STEPS CAN HELP OTHERS!
Please consider running or walking your ING Hartford Marathon, Half Marathon or 5K on behalf of the Hartford Marathon Foundation Official Charities. With very little extra effort, you'll reach your goal and at the same time make a huge difference in someone else's life.
In 2006, the Hartford Marathon was the most successful fundraising marathon in the country for the Connecticut Leukemia Society and the Children's Tumor Foundation (supported by the NF Marathon Team).
PLUS GENEROUS DONATIONS
Encourage your family and friends to share your dedication to a cause greater than your own personal record by making a pledge to your favorite charity. USING START OF THE ART TOOLS
You can set up your own personal fundraising page online by going to Active Giving. It is easy, secure and personal and affords you the opportunity to reach many more people by using the World Wide Web. If you choose to become an online fundraiser you can set up your own website where you can post updates on your training and even post pictures if you like! You can send messages to everyone on your email list asking them to support you and your charity of choice. Enjoy the Recognition YOU Deserve!!
If you prefer not to use the internet to fundraise, you can collect money yourself (checks made out to the charity) and mail it to the Hartford Marathon Foundation office. We will tally your “offline” donations up and send them on to the charity on your behalf. The money you raise will go directly to your charity. Online or offline - It's very easy to fundraise and oh so rewarding.
