Street Closures

A listing of traffic delays for all Road Closures and time schedule for the 2009 event is now available.  The following maps are in PDF format and also provide helpful information. The documents may be large in size and may take a few moments to open. 

All roads used for the ING Hartford Marathon will be closed during the event between 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Roads will reopen as runners pass. Travel into downtown Hartford will be limited. Please plan on delays and use alternate routes.

CT TRANSIT - BUS SERVICE DISRUPTION 

Due to the Hartford Marathon, several service disruptions will occur.  Temporary bus stops and detours will be in effect from 7:30AM to 2:00PM.  Learn more

BEST DIRECTIONS FOR RENSSELAER

From Interstate 91 North or South, take Exit 33,

Turn West onto Jennings, continue until the end,

Turn South (left) onto Windsor and follow to your lot.

If coming from I-84 and Route 2, continue to I-91, exit 33.

5K RUNNERS

If you plan to leave downtown Hartford before 11 a.m., you must park in the following locations in order to get out of the area:

  • State of Connecticut parking lot at 165 Capitol Ave. - exit east to Hudson Street to the Conlin Whitehead Hywy.
  • Surface lots or garages near the XL Center - you will be able to access I-84 east or west or travel west on city streets.

All other areas will be closed for the marathon & half marathon.

RULES OF THE ROAD

No one is allowed on the course without a properly issued race number.
Spectators must stay clear of the course and off the roads to avoid interfering with the runners.
Watch your children at all times.  There will be thousands of participants and spectators at the events.
Bikers should stay well off the course and watch for spectators as much as for runners.
No vehicles of any kind are allowed on the course.  The course can be crossed only at designated intersections.
Hold animals on a short leash.  Keep them away from runners and be considerate of others.
Help keep the course beautiful by not littering.  Respect the property of others while spectating.
