LITERACY VOLUNTEERS OF CENTRAL CONNECTICUT

Founded in 1978, Literacy Volunteers of Central Connecticut (LVCC) helps adults and families build the reading, writing, and English skills they need to succeed. Using supportive, student-focused learning, we empower people to find new job opportunities, continue their education, participate in community life, and support their children’s success.

Each year, more than 300 adults learn to read, write, and speak English with the help of over 100 volunteer tutors. These volunteers do more than teach—they help build confidence, dignity, and independence. Parents in our family literacy programs gain the tools to read to their children, communicate with teachers, and create brighter futures for their families.

LVCC’s work is made possible by people who believe literacy changes lives. Volunteers provide individualized instruction, and donors help us keep our programs free, personal, and accessible. Together, we are building a community where everyone has the skills and opportunities to thrive. More…
