Exclusive to registered Eversource Hartford Marathon participants, take on this in person, timed 2.62 mile race on September 26! Registered participants must log into their haku participant account and add the “Step One Run” product to their account.


There will be three 30 minute start wave windows: 10:30-11:00 am, 11:00-11:30 am, 11:30-12:00 pm. Each wave is limited to 150 registrants, participants must sign up for their start wave window in advance during registration. Results will be posted online periodically throughout the event, times are based only on chip time, there will be no gun time. Final results and divisions will be scored to include runners from all waves.

Race is FREE and only open to all registered Eversource Hartford Marathon event participants.


No race day registration. Registration is only open to athletes currently registered for an Eversource Hartford Marathon event. Registration is first come, first serve. Registration will close at 12:00 PM, Thursday, September 24 (or when races sell out).

To safely follow social distance protocols and state guidelines, each of the 3 race wave windows will be capped at 150 participants, 450 total athletes. First-come, first-served for each wave time slot.


The Hartford Marathon Foundation takes great pride in prioritizing safety and security at events. In these challenging conditions, no detail will be more important this year and each participant is expected to follow directions for all modified event details. Requirements to adhere to state and federal guidelines include, but are not limited to:

  • Masks must be worn at all times on site before and after the race
  • All participants must maintain at least 6 feet of spacing from others not in their party at all times, and 12 feet of spacing while running
  • Staff and volunteers will be wearing masks and gloves at all times during the event
  • Hand washing and sanitizing stations will be be available throughout the venue
  • Event flow and setup will be laid out to direct one way traffic and minimize participant interaction as much as possible – please follow directions.


All participants must show a Photo ID to pick up race packets (parent/guardian of minors must show ID).

Race Day Only: Arrive up to 30-minutes prior to your designated start wave to pick up a race bib – adjacent to the scoreboard at the west end of Rentschler Field – 615 Silver Lane, East Hartford, Connecticut.

Note: To designate someone to pick up another runner’s race packet, designee must bring a hard copy of this signed waiver/permission slip (included at the bottom of the Running Event Waiver) and a copy of runner’s photo ID. Photocopies or phone pictures of photo ID will be accepted.

Start wave windows are designed to allow on-site event participation while adhering to state guidelines on outdoor event capacities. Registrants must select a start wave window during the registration process, and each wave will be limited to 150 runners. On race day, participants may start ANYTIME during the selected 30 minute start wave window. (Example: Start wave selection: 10:30 am. Runners may start anytime 10:30 am – 10:59 am).

Start waves will be selected on a first come, first serve basis. Start waves available: 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, and 11:30 AM

Start waves can be changed while space is allowed up until Thursday, September 24. Email to make a change.


To adhere to state and federal guidelines, all participants are required to maintain 6 feet of separation between them and another participant outside of their family/party at all times. There will be no formal race start announcements for each wave, once participants arrive for their selected window and are ready to start, just cross the timing mats anytime during the 30 minute window. Race officials and volunteers will be on site to help direct and advise participants around the start.

While waiting to start, all athletes must continue to wear a face mask/covering until they cross the start line. Please do not crowd the start or any other spaces, all waves will have timing mats at the start and finish of the race, and all results (overall and divisions) will be calculated using net time, there is no gun time.


Each race wave will take on the same flat and fast 2.62 mile course around Rentschler Field. With close to zero elevation gain, it is time to check those legs for speed! Course map.

To adhere to state and federal guidelines, all participants must wear face masks/coverings at all times before and after their race. Once crossing the start line, participants may run with their mask lowered anytime they have 12 feet of separation from other runners. Masks must be carried on participants throughout the event.

No on-course hydration will be provided. Please consider carrying your own fluids. Bottled water will be available in the pre-race area for those that would like to carry it, as well as at the finish line.

No dogs (service dogs must be identified as such at all times). No unregistered runners or walkers. Headphones discouraged. No bicycles, rollerblades, skateboards, or motorized vehicles.
