SUSTAINABILITY

Run The Green Way:

At HMF, we believe that “run the greenway” doesn’t just mean going for a jog on some multi-use trails, it means putting on an event that is environmentally conscious and eco-friendly. To bring this mindset to life, we’ll be implementing a range of sustainable initiatives:

  • Locally Sourced Food
  • Responsibly Sourced Race Swag
  • Solar Powered Operations
  • Eliminate cups at all hydration stations
  • Reduce Event Waste through Composting & Recycling
  • Partner with with local community groups along the course, that receive donations in exchange for volunteer hours
  • Travel from Rhode Island through Massachusetts to Connecticut in the most eco-friendly method ever – running!
  • Leave it better than we found it
    • In 2019 & 2022 community PLOGGING events were held to clean up sections of the course through group runs
    • In 2019, 2021 & 2022, Webster Bank $5,000 donation to East Coast Greenway Alliance to help protect and preserve local sections of the trail
    • In 2020, Webster Bank supported the HMF Evergreen Adventure to help families discover 20 lesser known state parks in Connecticut and Rhode Island in a safe, socially distanced opportunity to explore the outdoors.  Donations of $10 for every participant were provided to the East Coast Greenway.
    • In 2021, Webster Bank and HMF Events partnered with Bike Walk Bolton and the Town of Manchester to host a Free Youth Bike Safety Rodeo for kids ages 5-12 to promote safe riding skills.
    • In 2023…we’ve got some fun new ideas in the works, stay tuned!
