TRAINING PROGRAMS

Group training programs provide structure and guidance to help you meet your running goals. Most programs include at least one group meeting each week and provide guidance for training runs on your own between meetings. Look for a group that best fits your running experience, goals and schedule.

5 MILE TRAINING

Fleet Feet, West Hartford, CT

Take the next step in your running experience with this fun and challenging 5 Mile Training Program. This 10-week program is designed for anyone who can currently run 3 miles comfortably. The training will help you over the “4-mile barrier.”

Program Start: Saturday, January 7, 2023
Program Schedule: Group Runs Each Week – Saturdays @ 9 am for 10 weeks
Goal Race: Bolton 5-mile Road Race on March 12

NO BOUNDARIES – 5K Training Program

Fleet Feet, West Hartford, CT

This 5k training program is geared towards beginners as we encourage walk/run intervals (if you like to do all-run, that’s fine too). Energetic coaches will join you during the run and cheer you on every step of the way. At the end of the 10-weeks, you’ll be able to run or run/walk a 5K race feeling healthy, happy, and strong!

Program Start: Saturday, January 21, 2023
Program Schedule: Group Runs Each Week – Saturdays @ 9 am for 10 weeks
Goal Race: O’Hartford 5K on March 19 or Johnny’s Jog 5k on March 26

SPEED, STRENGTH & POWER – 5K Training Program

Become a stronger 5K runner with this specialized training program that combines running workouts with coached functional fitness classes.

Program Start: Saturday, February 4, 2023 at 8:00 AM
Program Schedule: Runs: Sunday, Tuesday & Friday | Workouts: Wednesday & Saturday
Goal Race: O’Hartford 5K on Sunday, March 19

YOUTH PROGRAMS

ZOOMERANG KIDS RUNNING PROGRAM AT FLEET FEET, WEST HARTFORD

This non-competitive “open track” program is designed for kids aged 3-10. It gives them the opportunity to experience running in a fun, friendly atmosphere. It’s a great opportunity for kids to run safely, correctly using good form, make friends and get stronger/build endurance so they can perform better in other sports. Our goal is to empower kids to accomplish their goals and instill in them a lifelong love of running.

GLASTONBURY RIVER RUNNERS – RISING STARS

GRR offers two 9 week training programs each year to encourage youth ages 4 to 13 to get up and move. Let us help your child reach the goal of completing a 5K (3.1 miles) and have a great time doing it. Through this program, we are here to offer your child support, motivation and fun along the way!

GIRLS ON THE RUN – GREATER HARTFORD

Girls on the Run Greater Hartford serves Central, Southern and Western Connecticut, including: Hartford, Tolland, Litchfield, New Haven and Fairfield. All programming is led by caring and qualified coaches, providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity for all girls, including girls with disabilities, to develop self-confidence, have fun with friends, and learn life skills they can use now and as they grow.

WINTER RUN CLUB WITH FITNESS CLASS TRAINING
