A Sunday morning summer race tradition returns! Run the single-loop 5K or double-loop 10K through historic, quaint streets with finish in scenic Wethersfield Cove on an unpaved trail along the water. Spread out and recover post-race in the grass with packaged snacks and hydrate with the custom, Big Mouth water bottle participants earn for swag.

Take part in the L+M Summer Stride 5K or 10K in July and the Old Wethersfield 5K or 10K in August and also earn the 2 Hot Challenge medal!

Give Back: Please help give back to the community that this event takes place in. Donations of nonperishable food will be collected on race day through the HMF Can drive, supported by Stop & Shop. The collection will benefit Foodshare, which provides assistance to those families in need in Greater Hartford.

There are NO REFUNDS of registration fees, however, participants may choose to defer their race registration for any reason up to 14 days before the event. Policy Details

The race will adhere to state guidelines on outdoor event capacities, beginning with a social distanced race start format. After the race, participants will spread out to enjoy pre-packaged snacks while they celebrate their accomplishments. Results will be posted online only at the conclusion of the event, times are based on chip time, there will be no gun time. Final results and divisions will be scored to include all runners.


Stay motivated to keep moving through the dog days of summer! Register for the two race 2 Hot Challenge and take on the 5K or 10K at the L+M Hospital Summer Stride on July 17 plus the Old Wethersfield 5K or 10K. Just complete registration for both events and you are automatically entered to earn the 2 Hot Challenge medal, plus swag from both events.

The Hartford Marathon Foundation has always prioritized safety and security at events, and in these challenging conditions, no detail will be more important. Each participant is expected to follow directions for all modified event requirements to adhere to state and federal guidelines including, but not limited to:

  • Masks must be worn at all times on site before and after the race
  • All participants must maintain at least 6 feet of spacing from others not in their party at all times, and 12 feet of spacing while running
  • Staff and volunteers will be wearing masks at all times during the event
  • Hand washing and sanitizing stations will be be available throughout the venue
  • Event flow and setup will be laid out to direct one way traffic and minimize participant interaction as much as possible – please pay attention and follow directions
