The following information below applies to participants in the Rocky Neck Trail 5K, but course details, description, and amenities are applicable to 30K relay and solo participants.
New in 2024: The Rocky Neck Trail 5K begins by heading under the railroad tracks toward the stunning stone constructed Ellie Mitchell Pavilion. A quick trip up, under, across the pavilion offers panoramic views of Long Island Sound. From there, the course travels back over the railroad tracks and into the well groomed Rocky Neck State Park trail system. Heading north through this woodland area, the trail offers scenic views of the Four Mile River tidal area. While heading south, the trail offers tranquil views of the Bride Brook marsh while it winds through bountiful amounts of Mountain Laurel. The course is topped off with a picturesque finish* on the front lawn of the Ellie Mitchell Pavilion overlooking Long Island Sound.
*Note: 30K participants will complete the trail portion of the event at the exchange zone, adjacent to the pre/post race area. Runner #3 will complete the Trail ~5K and then continue past the exchange zone an extra 0.1 miles to reach the finish line located on the front lawn of the Ellie Mitchell Pavilion.
